SENIOR IDOLS!

IMINA ADONRI

Imina Adonri is a 17-year-old junior at Dwight Morrow High School. She began her musical journey by doing musical theatre in New York when she was only 5 years old. Her biggest musical inspiration is Britney Spears. She truly appreciates early 2000s pop and R&B. Music and performing give Imina purpose and strength in life and are crucial to her prosperity. She is proud of challenging herself to be in this year’s show and working hard at all the rehearsals in preparation. This COVID-19 pandemic taught Imina to be her own best friend and appreciate herself more. She is so excited to showcase her talents at the show!

CHARLI COWARD

 Charli Coward is a 16-year-old freshman at Dwight Morrow High School. She started performing in the 1st grade, falling in love with pop, R&B, and alternative music. Her biggest inspirations are Ariana Grande, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey, all for their passion and character. Music is the first thing Charli turns to when she feels low, and it has given her the ability to calm herself and find focus when she is stressed out. A few of her inspiring accomplishments are all the chess trophies she won and her ability to improve her vocals by practicing. The pandemic has allowed her to get back into singing after constantly being told by her teachers in the past that she does not have a good voice. From these hurdles, she learned to love and be comfortable with her voice, and she is so excited to showcase her fantastic talent during this year’s show!

  •  If given the chance, she wishes to meet Allie or Noah from The Notebook because that movie is her all-time favorite. 
  • She would trade places with Ariana Grande to see how it feels to have such a fantastic voice. 
  • If a genie granted Charli 3 wishes, she would wish to cure all cancers, her dream job of being a singer, and an infinite amount of wishes. 

HANNAH DUBROFF

 Hannah Dubroff is an 18-year-old senior at the Ramaz Upper School in New York. She began her musical journey at age 12 by taking voice lessons and practicing professionally, though she has loved performing her whole life. After seeing her first Broadway show at age 6, she knew singing was what she wanted to spend her life doing. She fell in love with theater, pop, and classical music genres and admired how music gave her the outlet to express herself and indeed be herself. Hannah’s proudest moment in her music career was her performance and victory at the Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater. This performance was especially important because it led her to begin her extensive research and advocacy for the racial injustices within wrongful convictions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hannah worked with her voice teacher, Ms. Amelia DeMayo, and BergenPAC to create weekly quarantine cabarets, for which she directed, hosted, wrote the scripts, ran the technology for, and performed each week. The profits from these events went to BergenPAC’s scholarship fund. Hannah is so thrilled to be a part of this show!

LUIS FIGUEROA

 Luis Figueroa is a 13-year-old 8th grader at Saint Joseph Catholic School in Oradell, NJ. He started performing at age 11, developing a love of pop, disco, and especially salsa music. His inspirations Bruno Mars and Marc Anthony, guided him to appreciate music and performing. Music is essential to Luis because it inspired him to keep going and never give up. One of his proudest accomplishments was persevering through a beautiful performance of singing one of his favorite salsa songs. During the pandemic, Luis was able to harness motivation to pursue endeavors outside of his comfort zone. This proud Puerto Rican is so excited to show off his salsa skills during the show!

SHAKIRA "KIRA" HUNT

 Shakira “Kira” Hunt is a 17-year-old junior at Dwight Morrow High School. She started performing at age 16 and dove deep into pop, R&B, and musical theater. Her biggest inspiration for everything musical is Jessie Reyez. She is super passionate about singing, and it warms her soul when she can sing on stage! Shakira worked hard not only in developing her music career but also in her academic side, as she was able to get onto the honor roll. This pandemic has given Shakira a lot of time to self upon herself and gain new positive perspectives on her life. She is so excited to be a part of one of the most talented groups of people she has ever seen in Englewood Idol this year!

  • If given the chance, she would love to meet Spongebob in person, as he was her favorite TV persona growing up. 
  • She would trade places with Beyoncé because she would love to see what goes through her creative and musical mind. 
  • She admires Beyonce and Michael Jackson and truly believes they are some of the most entertaining performers she has ever seen. 
  • If she were given 3 wishes, she would wish to be famous, rich, and end world hunger.

JOEY LIBERTI

Joey Liberti is a 17-year-old senior in the Pre-Engineering Academy at the Academies at Englewood. He began his musical journey at age 5 by performing at local senior retirement homes. His entire family encouraged and supported him to sing and perform, and soon, he developed a passion for many music genres including broadway, funk, and pop. Joey loves music and performing because they have given him an outlet to express himself. His passion and drive for music and drama have earned him admission to one of the top schools for musical performance, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where he will be attending the fall.  During the pandemic, Joey grew more mature and calm as he learned more about himself and gained new perspectives on his life before COVID-19. He is so excited to be a part of Englewood Idol this year!

  • Joey’s favorite food is Pad thai.

  • If he were given the chance, he would love to meet Annabeth from the Percy Jackson series because he admires her cunning wit and ability to control herself under pressure.
  • If given 3 wishes from a genie, he would wish for prosperity, communication, and maturity.

JARRETT McKINNEY

 Jarrett McKinney is a 16-year-old junior at Elmwood Park Memorial High School. He started performing at age 13 and became very interested in R&B and pop music. After hearing that he was related to a famous singer named Clyde McPhatter and coming from a family of talented performers, he realized he wanted to be heard worldwide for his talent. Music and performing helped Jarrett discover a new ability that he never knew he had: writing lyrics. Creating his own music gave him the medium to express his feelings while having tons of fun. He is proud to announce that two of his handwritten songs have had over 1,000 plays! This remarkable accomplishment is proof he has the potential to have his music be played on car radios someday. During the pandemic, Jarrett finally got the chance to relax and spend more time writing new music and even getting his first job. As he continues to get his music onto all platforms, Jarrett is ecstatic to have his music heard at Englewood Idol this year!

  • He would trade lives with Bryson Tiller for a day to see how the lifestyle of a successful artist is. 
  • If a genie granted him 3 wishes, he would wish for the ability to make a hit song, have his music heard around the world, and the ability to be more energized on stage. 

TIFFANY MOON

 Tiffany Moon is an 18-year-old senior in the Pre-Engineering Academy at the Academies at Englewood. She has been dancing ever since she was a kid and had her first-ever solo vocal performance when she was in the 7th grade. She also learned how to play piano, guitar, drums, and electric bass from a young age. She appreciates all music genres, though she especially loves to sing R&B Soul and HipHop. She remembers naturally singing and humming the tunes of the music playing around her, which fueled her love of singing. Music truly transformed her into the best version of herself, and she knew her happiness derives from singing and performing. 
One of Tiffany’s proudest accomplishments was getting chosen to be on a college dance team she is currently a part of. Being a member of this dance team helped her feel more comfortable with herself and helped to strengthen her dancing skills! During the pandemic, she was able to find more comfort in herself while building up her self-esteem tremendously. Intending to build her confidence on stage, Tiffany is excited to showcase her talents and passions during Englewood Idol!

  • Her favorite food is kimchi jjigae, a Korean stew. 
  • She has the unique talent of guessing which food people are eating just by hearing their voices. 
  • If given the chance, Tiffany wishes to meet Phineas and Ferb because she loves their positivity and exciting adventures. 
  • She would trade places with KENZIE, a Korean producer, because she aspires to pursue exactly what KENZIE does professionally. 
  • If granted 3 wishes by a genie, Tiffany would wish for her family never to be hurt or sick, for the COVID-19 pandemic to vanish, and to maintain a strong relationship with her brother in the future.

ANGELICA MUÑOZ

 Angelica Muñoz is an 18-year-old senior in the Biomedicine Academy at the Academies at Englewood. She began her musical journey in elementary school when she joined Choir for the first time. Her favorite genres of music include rock and alternative music. Angie has always loved to sing, and she knew that she could grow as a person by performing. Music has changed her life, as it is her coping mechanism whenever she is struggling or in a dark place. It also has helped her create everlasting bonds with people and form a fantastic community. One of Angie’s most proud accomplishments is winning the International Championship of High School A Capella (ICHSA) Mid Atlantic QuarterFinals with her awesome A Cappella group Vocal Synergy. This pandemic allowed her to spend more time with her family and finally make and save up money for herself. Angie is so excited to be working with such an amazing cast and truly believes this year’s Englewood Idol is the best way to end off her senior year!

JUNIOR IDOLS!

MIA ROSE MILLER

Mia Rose Miller is an 8-year-old 2nd grader at Dr. John Grieco Elementary School. She began performing and singing when she was only 2 years old. Her mother is her biggest inspiration, and she truly encouraged Mia Rose to perform in Englewood Idol this year. Mia Rose loves and appreciates all types of music, and she comes from a very encouraging, musical family. Mia Rose wants to give a special thanks to her mom and dad for all they have done for her and all the talents they gave her, and a huge thanks to God for blessing her with great parents. During this year’s Englewood Idol, she is so excited to showcase her tremendous singing skills!

ISAAC BROADIE AKA
 LIL CHAIN BOI

 Isaac Broadie, aka Lil Chain Boi is a 12-year-old 6th-grader at Janis E. Dismus Middle School. He started his musical journey when he was only 8 years old. His biggest inspiration is Nipsey Hussle, as Isaac believes he was so talented and admired that he rapped about real life while also helping others. His favorite type of music is hip-hop, and he has a true passion for the impact of music on others! Isaac wants to give a huge thanks to his super supportive family, especially to his mother that always bought him the equipment he needed and believed in him! He would also like to thank Mrs. Aronson for giving him the chance to perform in Idol this year. During this year’s Englewood Idol, Isaac is so pumped to showcase his rapping skills!

ANGE'LAY CHANEY

 Ange’Lay Chaney is a 13-year-old 7th-grader at Janis E. Dismus Middle School. She started performing and dancing when she was only 6 years old. Dancing has always been a passion of hers, ever since she watched people dance and perform on TV and admired their talent, beauty, and peace. Ange’Lay’s favorite type of music is pop music, and she loves to dance. She is super grateful for her family and everything they do for her in helping her achieve her musical dreams! She would like to give a big thanks to Mayor Mr. Wilde, her mother Commissioner Chaney, her father Kaiser, the staff of Englewood Idol, her teachers, her support system, and her Englewood of Jesus Church family! Ange’Lay is super pumped to showcase her dancing talents at this year’s Englewood Idol.

  • She is one active girl, playing various sports, including basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball.
  • She enjoys baking and trying out different hairstyles. 
  • She has a Black-owned business called “Meet the Beauty,” where she aims to help all those in unjust situations, face domestic abuse or bullying, aid with suicidal prevention, help homeless children, and reduce gun violence!
  • If a genie granted her 3 wishes, she would wish for a lifetime supply of money, a dance scholarship, and a dream vacation to Japan.

ANGE'LINA CHANEY AKA AUGUST

Ange’lina Chaney is a 10-year-old 5th-grader at McCloud Elementary School. She began her musical journey when she was only 6 years old. Her biggest inspiration for her musical career is her cousin Danielle V. Chaney, who sadly lost her life in a gun violence incident. Danielle was also a previous contestant in a past Englewood Idol, and Ange’lina derived a lot of appreciation for music from her. She loves slow and inspirational music, and her favorite instrument is the harp, though she appreciates all music. Ange’lina comes from a family of natural-born leaders, superheroes, and very unique individuals. She would like to give a huge thanks to her mother, family, support system, godmother, and community for all the help they gave her! She is excited to showcase her singing and rapping skills by performing an original song during this year’s Englewood Idol!

  • Some of her favorite foods include apples, seafood, mac and cheese, ICEEs, swiss rolls, fried eggs, salads, and PB&J sandwiches.

  • She is a massive fan of Anime.
  •  Her loving great-grandmother just turned 95.
  • She loves to draw, write, play and write music, act, play tennis, make crafts, and shoot bow and arrows.

AVA BLACK

Ava Black is a 9-year-old 3rd-grader at Dr. Leroy McCloud Elementary School. She began her musical journey when she was only 5 years old and went to her very first tap dance class. From then, she fell in love with dance and performing. Ava’s favorite type of music to dance to is pop. She would like to give a big thanks to her mother, Ms. Jasmine, and Ms. Humphrey for all the support she got from them! Ava is thrilled to be able to showcase her dancing talents during this year’s Englewood Idol.

  •  She loves to do gymnastics and makeup in her free time.
  • She has a twin brother.

MILLIE BETHANY OCHOA

Millie Bethany Ochoa is a 7-year-old 1st-grader at Dr. John Grieco Elementary School. She began performing at The Performing Arts School and during the summer camp at BergenPAC. Her biggest inspiration is the OMG Dolls. Millie's favorite genres of music are rock and pop music and occasionally classical music. She would love to give special thanks to her parents for always supporting her and planning a super fun 7th birthday sleepover with her cousins. Millie is beyond excited to showcase her singing talents at this year's Englewood Idol.

  • Her favorite foods are steam dumplings, shrimp, and anything from McDonald's.
  • If given the chance, Millie would love to meet Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony because she loves these funny and cool characters. 
  • If a genie granted her 3 wishes, she wishes to meet her 3 favorite Youtubers: Green Bear from Kidtimesstorytime.com, Brian from Brian Toys Review, and Jojo Siwa. 
  • She loves to dance, make art, and play the piano in her free time. 
  • Her favorite pastimes are playing makeover, getting dressed up, putting on makeup, and facetime with her cousins.
  •  Millie loves her cousins dearly.
  • Her favorite subject in school is Art. 
  • She aspires to be an Art teacher when she grows up.

KHLOE YATES

=Khloe Yates is a 10-year-old 5th-grader at Dr. Leroy McCloud Elementary School. She has been dancing ever since she was a baby but officially started performing and taking formal gymnastics when she was 5 years old. Her biggest inspiration is her mother, who is always playing music, encouraging her kids to move and play with the beats, and get up and get active in music. Khloe’s favorite genre of music is emotional, when people pour out their feelings and hearts into music, and when you can truly feel that emotion when you listen to the music. She wants to give God and her family a huge thanks for all the love she has gotten throughout her musical journey. Khloe is super excited to be showcasing her singing at this year’s Englewood Idol.
